Jessica on "The Pretender" [5:40 PM EST]
According to Jessica's TV listings on TV Now, Jessica is going to be on the January 16th episode of "The Pretender."  I guess I was caught a little off guard, since no one told me about this until I saw it in the TV listings.  Anyway, here is the episode entry...

Pretender
The Assassin
Sat  Jan 16  09:00P   NBC
60 minutes- (CC), In Stereo

Jarod (Michael T. Weiss) must help a former CIA computer analyst (guest star Jessica Steen) assassinate a U.S. senator to free her children from a kidnapper (guest star Michael Bryan French); Miss Parker (Andrea Parker) meets her new neighbor (guest star Jason Brooks).
(It would have been humorous if Jessica appeared in the episode that aired on December 12th which was titled "Homefront".)

Earth 2 Marathon in February [9:20 PM EST]
According to The Sci-Fi Channels Online Schedule (United States only), there will be an Earth 2 Marathon starting on February 14th at 7:00AM.  It appears the thon  will run until to about 7:00PM on Feb 15th.

Happy Holidays!! [1:30 AM EST]
I wanted to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  I have a sneaking suspicion that next year might bring some exciting things to this web site! Stay tuned!

The JSP Hits 200,000! [1:30 AM EST]
3 years to the day I started the web counter we received our 200,000th visitor to the page!  The 200,000 is actually only counting the people who came in through the main page. I have gotten many more hits directly into pages like the Armageddon page and the Photo Gallery that weren't counted.  But in any case that is quite impressive traffic (we average about 150-200 people per day now).  I want to thank everyone for their support over the past few years.

Exploiting Jessica's Name [1:30 AM EST]
I am sure many of you who have used search engines like Lycos, Hotbot, Infoseek, AltaVista and the like, have tried to search for information on things (such as on Jessica) only to get a link to some pornographic web site. As a matter of fact, if you search Lycos now for "Jessica Steen" you will get a number of pages that are adult web sites using Jessica's name to get people to come to their site.  Here is how it works: The web master of the adult site will set up a number of dummy pages with the names of many celebrities or popular words that they can.  Then, when a search engine (such as Lycos) spider's their site, the page is cataloged. So when someone goes to Lycos searching for something, say "Jessica Steen" for example, that adult web site pops up as a possible match to your search.  This is called search engine spamming.  While a number of search engines are taking measures to circumvent spammers, some are still getting through.  There have been a number of sites in the past that have used Jessica's name for just that purpose.  What I usually do is send them a threatening email and they usually take the page down.  Such was the case of another site that was using Jessica's name on 3 pages to get traffic into their adult web site. I told them to cease and desist or else there might be legal action, and within a day the page was removed.

With that in mind, if anyone in the future does a search or comes across a web site that is using Jessica's name to get traffic into their adult oriented web site, please let me know.  Send me the web site address (URL) in email and I will deal with it.  Thankfully, Jessica isn't that well known enough to have people start creating those digital fake nude pictures like they have done with many celebrities.  The good news is that if anyone tries, a new legal precedent was set a few days ago.  Actress Alyssa Milano won a legal battle over a site that was using fake nude photos of her. (Here is a news article about it.)  Naturally, if anyone comes across any fake nudes of Jessica (assuming there is anyone stupid enough to try) please let me know.

More on Jessica's "Due South" Episode [8:30 PM EST]
I have been getting some pretty good feedback in email about Jessica's episode of Due South that aired last week.  Everyone seemed to really enjoy the episode.  Many people on the Due South mailing list rank the episode as one of their favorites.

A few of the more popular questions (and my answers) that some people have sent me in email...

Q: Will Jessica be in any future episodes of Due South?
A: Production on Due South has stopped as of March 1998. The star of the show and producer (Paul Gross) has said that the amount of work involved in producing as well as acting (and sometimes writing) was wearing on him.

Q: What was the song that was playing towards the end of the episode as she was walking on the sidewalk to the bank?
A: That was Sarah McLachlan singing "Song For A Winter's Night".  The song is available on The Due South Soundtrack Volume 2. (here is a WAV sample of the song)

Q: When will the episode air again?
A: In the United States it will most likely air again on TNT in mid-March 1999.  In Canada the episode should air for the first time either at the end of this month or early January depending what happens to the schedule during the holidays.  The episode aired today in Australia and will air Thursday in Austria. I am not sure about other countries, so if anyone sees the episode coming up soon in your neck of the woods, please email me.

Mountie Jessica! Thoughts on Jessica's "Due South" Episode [7:35 PM EST]
I hope everyone (in the U.S. anyway) got a chance to catch Jessica's episode of Due South yesterday on TNT.  I may be biased (ok, I am biased) but I thought it was one of the best episodes of the entire series, which means a lot since I thought the entire series was fantastic!  Jessica's episode ("Hunting Season")  was very funny and had a lot of great moments.  I liked it so much that I watched it again right after it aired! I would imagine Jessica had a pretty good time shooting that episode since it reunited her with a lot of her actor/friends that she has worked with in the past.  Jessica probably liked the role as well since she once again got to portray a strong female character.  Hopefully sometime in the near future I will get a chance to interview Jessica for the page and ask her about this episode.

If you missed the episode, you will get another chance after the series runs through again on TNT.  It takes about 3 months to get through the entire series.  Naturally, I will post something to alert everyone when it comes around again.  For those of you in Canada, this episode should air around December 30th, but with the holiday I am betting it might get pushed into January.  I will post the air date when I find out for sure.  A few other countries such as South America and Australia have already aired the episode, but for those of you in other countries that get the series, please email me with the time and date information so I can add it to the site.  The episode  will be aired in Austria this Thursday (12-17-98) check this Jessica on TV page for details.   I also posted some screen captures from the episode on the Due South page in the Photo Gallery.

For anyone who saw the episode, please email me and tell me what you thought of it.

Due South Reminder [2:20 PM EST]
As if that big red line of text on the main page wasn't enough, this is a reminder that Jessica's episode of Due South (titled "Hunting Season") airs tomorrow (Thursday 12-10-98) at 4:00PM (est) on TNT in the USA. This episode more than likely won't air in Canada until early next year.

I was kind of hoping to have some shots by now of Jessica in her Mountie outfit, but I haven't been able to get my hands on any so far.  I will try and get some screen captures from the episode when it airs tomorrow and post them on the Due South page in the Photo Gallery.

More on the Femme Fatales article [8:20 PM EST]
I emailed the author of Jessica's article/interview in the new issue of Femme Fatales (see yesterdays news entry below) to ask him about some of the errors in the article. The author, Mitch Persons, told me that this interview was conducted this past February on the set of Armageddon. The interview was ment to be included in a series that he wrote about Armageddon that was intended for Cinefantastique Magazine (Vol 30 #3).  For whatever reason Jessica's article ended up in Femme Fatales.

Mitch also mentioned that "As to the misquotes and misinformation, many times our editors add things that we, the writers never put in our articles.  The reference to STARSHIP TROOPERS, and the mislabeled photograph on page 27 are examples of that."  Mitch also mentioned to me that in his original copy of the interview, Jessica's show Captain Power... had the correct title.

So it appears that the editors of Femme Fatales got a little creative hands on the article and fudged it up a bit.  It also explains why Jessica's management and publicity firm weren't aware of the article when I mentioned it to them, since the interview was intended for another magazine.

Thanks to Mitch Persons for answering my emails quickly and clearing that up.

Jessica in Femme Fatales Magazine [1:45 AM EST]
Femme Fatales cover Jessica makes another magazine appearance in the January 1999 issue of Femme Fatales (Vol. 7 #9 with Jennifer Love Hewitt on the cover).  The issue is starting to appear on most major newsstands and bookstores now around North America such as Border's, Barnes & Noble, Chapters and the like.  Femme Fatales is put out by the same folks who also publish Cinefantastique magazine.  Femme Fatales is a somewhat tacky magazine that "celebrates" women in the Sci-Fi Fantasy and Horror genre's.  Most of of the issues I have seen usually feature scantily clad B-Movie "Scream Queens," "Bond Girls" and the like.  So it was quite a surprise to hear of Jessica's appearing in it, since I can't believe she would approve of the way women are presented in the magazine.  Thankfully, Jessica's article is a tasteful one.  The article is 4 pages long and contains many of the same photos that I already have on the site, as well as a few screen captures from Captain Power.  It was quite a thrill to find out that Jessica mentioned me 4 times in the article and talked about the web site!  Cool!  They even spelled my name right! Wow!  But did the magazine mention the address to this site??  Noooooo!  :-)

Oh well, fortunately, the page is easy to find by typing her name in any of the major search engines on the net.  (Special thanks to David in Toronto for bringing the magazine to my attention).

There are a few points about the article I wanted to address...

On page 24 the article mentioned that Jessica had an uncredited part in Starship Troopers.  To my knowledge, this isn't true.  I suspect the author of the article got the information from The Internet Movie Database, which for a short time listed Jessica in an uncredited role in ST before I told them to remove it.

On page 25 Jessica is quoted as saying, "I was a soldier and pilot in another series, CAPTAIN POWER AND HIS SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE."  The title of the show was of course Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.

There is a photo from Jessica's episode of "The Outer Limits" on page 27.  I'm not sure if they were implying that she was the women in the photo, but in any case, that isn't her.

All mistakes aside, I am still floating on cloud 9 after reading the article and seeing Jessica talk about me and the site.  It definately makes it worth the effort.  Thanks Jessica!

Gentle Sinners? [8:45 AM EST]
You would think after working on this site for nearly 4 years I would have a complete list of Jessica's acting credits.  But no, up pops another movie of hers that I had never heard of before.  I recently received a list of credits from a friend on the net (thanks Helen) who got them from some acting credits database.  Although the list wasn't nearly as complete as what I have on the Filmography page, there was an entry for a 1984 CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) made for TV movie titled "Gentle Sinners" which was new to me.  About the only information I could find on the net was that it was written by W.D. Valgardson and directed by Eric Till (who also directed Jessica's excellent TV movie "Small Gifts").  If anyone can fill me in with any more information on this movie I would appreciate it.  If the Canadian visitors out there could keep an eye on their TV listings and let me know when this movie airs again up there I would also appreciate it.

Due South Yet Again! [6:00 PM EST]
Those wacky folks at TNT just can't seem to make their minds up about Due South's schedule.  In any case, it appears that Jessica's episode of Due South will indeed be shown here in the U.S. this year after all!  Jessica's episode (titled "Hunting Season") will air December 10th at 4:00PM EST. For those who care here is TNT's current Due South Schedule.

Armageddon stuff
A reminder that Armageddon will be out on video tomorrow at a local store near you! (assuming you live in the U.S. or Canada).  Also, the motion picture score to Armageddon (not the one with the Aerosmith songs, but the actual instrumental score by Trevor Rabin) is now available in stores as of this past Tuesday.  The infamous group shot of the astronauts (with only the top of Jessica's head visable) is on the cover of the CD.

TNT's Due South Again [3:00 AM EST]
It appears that I was correct about Due South not going to air Jessica's episode this time around (see Oct 24th entry below).  TNT appears to be starting over from the first season after November 23rd.  It is quite possible TNT agreed not to air any more episodes of the 2nd half of the 3rd season (which is technically Canada's 4th season) until they are done airing in Canada.  If TNT does decided to air Jessica's episode the next time around, that would make it appear some time in mid February 1999 at the earliest, which incidentally is about a year from the time the episode was actually filmed.

Armageddon on DVD [11:55 PM EST]
The DVD for Armageddon will hit the stores in North America on January 5th of next year with a SRP of $29.99.  For all you DVD videophiles, the disc will be dual-layer, and will include the Aerosmith I Don't Want to Miss a Thing video, and two theatrical trailers. It will be in full Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, and will be a widescreen release, but not anamorphic.  This will be the theatrical version of the movie and not the special edition that is being released on Laserdisc with extra footage.  As I mentioned earlier this month, the VHS video and Laserdisc will be out this November 10th.

ER Reminder [11:55 PM EST]
A reminder that Jessica's episode of ER ("True Lies") will air tomorrow (10-26-98) at 7:00PM EST on TNT in the U.S.

More on TNT's Due South Schedule [2:20 AM EST]
After my posting about TNT not airing the 2nd half of the 3rd season of Due South yesterday, (which I based on their schedule through November) it occured to me that it is a possiblity that TNT isn't showing new episodes during the Thanksgiving holiday, and could very well resume with the 3rd season after Thanksgiving.  I guess we will have to wait until the holiday to find out.

No Thank You Kindly [2:45 PM EST]
I just got a hold of the latest Due South schedule for the airings on TNT in the U.S.  It appears that after TNT gets done showing the first half of the 3rd season of Due South (which should be on Nov 23rd with "Mountie on the Bounty, part 2" ) TNT will start the series over again starting with the Pilot episode! This of course means that Jessica's episode "Hunting Season" will probably not be shown until early next year.  I am puzzled as to why they are doing this.  Maybe there was some agreement with Alliance in Canada (who sold TNT the rights) that stated they wouldn't air those episodes until they are shown in Canada (even though TNT is exclusive to the U.S.)  But that really doesn't make sense, since all of those episodes (except for 4) have already been shown in the U.S. when it was in syndication earlier this year. Go figure.

Jessica in Reruns [2:45 PM EST]

  • On TNT in the U.S., Jessica's episode of ER (titled "True Lies") will air this Monday (10-26-98)  at 7:00PM EST.
  • Earlier episodes of the series Touched by an Angel are currently being shown in syndication in the U.S. Jessica's episode (titled "Full Moon") should be airing in the coming weeks. I will post the week (since it will vary depending on where you are at) when I find out.
Get Armageddon for Free! [2:45 PM EST]
Big Star Video has a cool offer where if you buy any movie from them, they will ship you a free copy of the movie "Armageddon" when it is released on November 13th (you pay $3.93 for shipping though).  This is a good chance for those of you who want to pick up some of Jessica's other movies as well as get a free copy of "Armageddon". While at the site do a search on Jessica's name to get a list of the movies they have of her's in stock, or use this link here.

What's New? [4:45 AM EST]
Sorry there hasn't been much new to report lately.  All has been quiet on the Jessica front.  The movie "Question of Privilege," which Jessica completed at the end of June, is the last thing she has worked on.  If you are new to the site check the News Archives for a few details on QoP.

Armageddon Coming to Home Video [4:45 AM EST]
The biggest hit of the summer, Armageddon will be coming to home video next month.  It appears there will be 2 versions of the movie released.  The original theatrical version, as well as a directors cut.  It doesn't appear that the director's cut will be made immediately available on tape or DVD but there is definately a Criterion Special Edition Laserdisc of Armageddon due out by the end of the year.  The VHS video is due out in North America on November 10th and on laserdisc on November 18th.  The Criterion laser is also due out on November 18th, but Criterion has been known to delay its releases from time to time. I read in the WSJ that Disney plans on releasing the DVD on the same day (11-13-98) as VHS, so we shall see (and remember kids, just say NO TO DIVX!)

The Criterion Special Edition of Armageddon Laserdisc will feature...

- The longer director's cut of "Armageddon," featuring scenes not shown theatrically
- Audio commentary by director Michael Bay,  producer Jerry Bruckheimer, costar
Ben Affleck,  cinematographer John Schwartzman, former astronaut Dr. Joe Allen,
and NASA's Director of Advanced Programs Ivan Bekey
- Analysis of the special effects by Richard Hoover,
  Pat McClung and Hoyt Yeatman
- Trailers and TV spots
- Storyboards and production design drawings
- Behind-the-scenes footage
- Plus tons of extras!

I'm not positive but I do believe that the director's cut was 45 minutes longer than the theatrical version. That would mean that this cut will be in the neighborhood of 3 hours and 15 minutes! There better darn well be some extra Jessica footage in there, thats all I have to say!  :-)

A Brief Jessica Mention [4:45 AM EST]
In the August 18th issue of the Ottawa Citizen (a Canadian newspaper eh!) there is an article about the problem with Alberta Canada's movie industry, that features comments from actor Michael Ironside and producer Bruce Harvey. Bruce is producing Jessica latest film "Question of Privilege" which is due out next year.  Only Jessica's name is mentioned in the article, but it is an interesting read just the same. The article is available on their website here.

Due South Reminder [1:15 AM EST]
This is a reminder that Due South starts airing daily on TNT in the U.S. tomorrow (Tuesday 9-8-98) at 4:00PM EST.  From there on out, it will air Monday through Friday in that same time slot.  Due South will also be shown on a weekly basis on Saturday's.  If all goes well, Jessica's episode (titled "Hunting Season") should air around the first or second week of December.

Due South on tape in the UK. [7:15 PM EST]
William & Elyse's Due South Page reports that a video company in the UK called "CLEARVISION" will release the last 6 episodes of the TV series Due South on tape on September 7th. This includes Jessica's episode titled "Hunting Season" (that hasn't aired in North America yet).  Here is a list of the episodes being released.

   1. Easy Money/Likely Story
   2. Mojo Rising/Mountie Sings the Blues

   3. Say Amen/Hunting Season

   4. Odds/Ladies' Man

   5. Good for the Soul/Dead Men don't throw Rice

   6. Call of the Wild (parts 1 & 2)

The Littlest Hobo has been neutered
For those of you in Canada who were waiting for Jessica's episode of The Littlest Hobo to reappear, it looks like ATV has stopped airing the episodes as of the end of August. I am disappointed because I was waiting for Jessica's episode to reair since I have been unable to get a copy of it.  For more info on this popular Canadian family series check out The Littlest Hobo Page. Showcase was also airing the show, but they appeared to only be airing the first few seasons and Jessica's episode didn't appear until the sixth season.  Jessica's episode (titled "Torque") first aired in January 1985. If anyone has this episode on tape I would greatly appreciate a copy.

A few things... [3:15 PM EST]
Due South Photo
I received a Polaroid in the mail from Colleen Benson who was the lucky winner of a Polaroid of Jessica (from an auction at a recent Due South Convention) with actors Gordon Pinsent and Paul Gross that was taken on the set of Jessica's episode of Due South. You can check out the photo on the Due South page in The Photo Gallery.

The Edison Twins and The Campbell's
As I mentioned below (August 21, 1998) I had received a copy of Jessica's episode of The Campbell's as well as one of her episodes of The Edison Twins.  I just added a few sound clips from each episode to the pages I have set up for each of the episodes in The Photo Gallery.

A few Jessica shows for the UK
The UK Disney Channel will be airing Jessica's TV movie, Principal Takes a Holiday on Tuesday, September 1 at 7PM.

The SCI-FI Channel UK will be airing Jessica's episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents titled "Man on the Edge" on Wed, September 23 at 11.30.  And as always keep checking the Jessica on TV page for the latest air dates for upcoming Jessica TV shows and movies. (thanks to Ann R. for both of those)

Armageddon Breaks A Record [4:00 PM EST]
Armageddon has become Disney's highest grossing live-action film with a total $180 million in U.S. ticket sales, the studio said on this past Monday in a press release.  It surpassed Pretty Woman which took in $178.4 million in the United States during its 1990 run.

Of course that doesn't seem too impressive when you consider that Armageddon cost around $150 million to make (not including advertising).  I am certain that Pretty Woman will remain Disney's highest profitting live-action film for a while.

A few things... [2:45 PM EST]
Sorry that there hasn't been much news lately, there really hasn't been that much to report.  Jessica is basically doing a little vacationing right now.

Yesterday, I recieved a tape of a few of Jessica's older TV episodes from Maggie, one of my loyal Canadian pals.  Maggie has been a invaulable source of Jessica's older TV work and is responsible for getting to me many of the shows I have screen captures of in The Photo Gallery. I am sure Jessica is thrilled to have all her old stuff dug up and plastered on the Internet <grin>.  I have had to rely on a few Canadian friends to provide me with tapes of Jessica's earlier work (and even some recently work)  that unfortunately only appears on Canadian TV (or Satellite of you have a dish).

One of the episodes I received yesterday was Jessica's first appearance on the Canadian TV series "The Edison Twins".  In that episode, which I believe is titled "Enemy of Weston," Jessica makes a brief appearance as a friend of one of the shows stars.  Her character name was never mentioned and for some reason she went uncredited in the episode. That episode first aired in November of 1984 which definately makes it one of her earlier roles.  Jessica did another episode of this series which I believe is called "What Goes Up", but I haven't been able to aquire that one yet.  I have screen captures of this episode in The Photo Gallery.

The other episode was from a mid to late 80's Canadian-Scottish TV Series called "The Campbell's".  Jessica's episode was titled "Blinded by Love".  I believe that episode first aired in Canada around 1986.  For those in Canada who get The History Television Channel, The Campbell's currently airs something like 3 times a day, Monday through Friday.  I also have screen captures of this episode in The Photo Gallery.

Also on the tape was a segment on the Armageddon premiere in Florida from a entertainment TV show in Canada called "Box Office".  I got some screen captures and some audio files that I will put up this weekend.

Report from RCW 139 [updated 2:45PM EST]
RCW 139 was a major fan run convention for the TV series Due South, and it took place this past weekend in Toronto, Canada. There were a few Jessica related things that occured, that my spy in Toronto told me about.

  • There was a Due South blooper reel that was shown at the convention.  Apparently, Jessica was in a least 3 scenes in the blooper reel, which was comprised of 3rd season material.
  • They showed Jessica's episode of Due South (titled "Hunting Season") at the convention (it hasn't aired anywhere in North America yet). Many people have commented that it was one of the best episodes of the season. The other 3 episodes that haven't aired in the U.S. were also shown.
  • There was a raffle of a few autographed Polaroid photos that actor Gordon Pinsent donated that apparently were taken during the filming of Jessica's DS episode.  These photos were of (I believe) Due South stars Gordon Pinsent, Paul Gross and Jessica. I am trying to get a scan of the photo from the winner, and will post it if I can get a hold of it.
  • One of the TV biz folks that was at the convention was heard to have said something about trying to get Jessica for some TV series that was filming in Canada.  Don't know any more details on that though.
  • There was also some talk of having a spin-off series of Due South, and I believe Jessica's name was mentioned for the possibly the lead role, but I guess they realized that it would basically be just the same thing as Due South and dropped the idea?
DSS Satellite Dish Owners [5:00AM EST]
If you have a DSS Satellite dish and get DirecTV's programming, there is a channel called TRIO that they carry. TRIO is a channel that is partly owned by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) and they air many Canadian TV series, including a few that Jessica has appeared in. For example, 3 series that Jessica has done episodes of: Street Legal, The Littlest Hobo and The Campbell's, are all airing on TRIO now.  When her episodes air (her Street Legal episode just aired on August 5th) I will post something on the Jessica on TV page.

More Armageddon Premiere Photos [8:00 PM EST]
Mania Magazine has a photo gallery from the Armageddon World Premiere in Florida this past June 29th.  There is only one shot of Jessica however when she was part of a group photo. I have yet to find a single shot of her from that premiere other than the group shots and I know more than a few people had to take some shots of her.

A few things... [3:40 PM EST]
There are a few of Jessica's movies that are airing this month around the world.  In the U.S. there is Dogwatch (only a tiny part) and Sing and in Canada Striker's Mountain is airing once again.  In Germany there is Threshold (very brief appearance) as well as her Tropical Heat (aka. "Sweating Bullets") episode.  Check the Jessica on TV page for the details these and other shows.

Fox News Channel Interview on 7-16-98!? [1:30 AM EST]
It figures...  I had been regularly taping all the entertainment shows like Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, E! News Daily and CNN Showbiz today in the hopes that there would be some sort of interview with Jessica, especially with the Armageddon PR machine in full swing.  Except for maybe a little snippet or the E! "Armageddon Premiere" show, I haven't really seen diddly squat as far as interviews go.  Sure enough though, on a cable channel that I don't get (The Fox News Channel) on their daily entertainment show called "Fox on Entertainment" they featured Jessica on a approximately 7 minute long live interview on July 16th.  Of course, no one told me, so I couldn't post the information on the site for those who do get the channel.  Fortunately, (for me anyway) a friend of a friend had taped the entire show and sent it to me and I just received it in the mail today.

It was a nice little interview that included some of her scenes (actually most of her scenes if you think about it) from Armageddon.  Unfortunately, part way through her interview they interrupted with a special report about the Clinton investigation, which ran for over 2 minutes.  When the report was over, they were back to the interview with Jessica (which they didn't stop, so 2 minutes of the interview wasn't seen).  It appeared that the interviewer had asked Jessica about the TV series Earth 2 during the interruption (and who knows what else) based on what Jessica was saying when the interview resumed.  Even if you don't get The Fox News Channel, they broadcast the channel 24 hours a day from their web site (not that it matters at this point).  If I get the time I will type up a transcript of the interview and post it on here as well as put up a few screen shots.  I am also trying to contact Fox to see if they have an archive dept. that would have the uninterrupted interview. Also, it is quite possible when they rebroadcasted the show at 4AM (they air it twice a day) that her interview was shown uncut. If anyone has a copy of the uninterrupted interview, I would appreciate a copy of it.  Here are a few screen captures from the interview.

By the way, it's worth repeating, that if anyone comes across any news on Jessica, whether for a tv show, movie, interview, magazine article... anything... please do not hesitate to email me about it.  I check my email all the time, so don't worry if it is something coming up in 30 minutes or in a few months.   Never assume I know everything that is happening with her career, cause the truth is, that I don't (and the Fox News interview was a reminder of that).  I get most of my information from fans than I do from any other source.

Jessica's Shoes [1:00 AM EST]
Jessica's shoes After Jessica's online chat on The Entertainment Asylum back on July 2nd (that had video and audio.) I got a few messages about people wanting to know what kind of shoes Jessica was wearing (the ones she described as "bowling shoes".)  Well,  as she mentioned in the chat, they are John Fluevog shoes and of course the company has their own web site with a complete online catalog. As best as I can tell, the ones Jessica had on were "Angels" and the style was "Augustine".  I may be wrong, but the photo they have of the Augustine style in the catalog looks just like the ones Bigfoot, errr... ummm... I mean Jessica had on. (Except hers appears to have black laces instead of the white ones in the catalog photo.)   (Okay, so I was a little bored today.)

Armageddon Director's Cut [1:20 AM EST]
In the July 17, 1998 issue of Entertainment Weekly, there is a mention of a scene with Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) and his father (played by Lawrence Tierney) that was cut from the film (the poor guy didn't find out he was cut until the premiere on June 29th).  Director Michael Bay insists that Tierney's scene along with others will be restored in a "Director's Cut" of the film. Hopefully, this means that many of Jessica's scenes will also be restored.  The original cut of the movie reportedly ran for about 3 hours and 15 minutes (or 45 minutes longer than the version in theaters.)

Jessica's LIVE! Magazine Article Online [11:00 AM EST]
For those of you who don't have access to LIVE! Magazine, they have a web site and just happen to have Jessica's article on their site. They don't seem to have the photo they are using in the magazine however.

More on Jessica in Starlog Magazine [9:45 PM EST]
Sept. 98 Starlog cover I picked up a copy today of the latest issue of Starlog Magazine (Sept. #254) that has the 4 page Jessica article in it.  Uma Thurman is featured on the cover and they also have Jessica's name on the cover as well. Starlog used this full page photo of Jessica on the contents page of the issue, along with a larger version of the photo that Flare magazine used (which is cool since the version in Flare was the size of a postage stamp.) The 3 page article is pretty good and has 5 photos of her (nothing I don't already have on the site though.) As I mentioned below, Starlog is available at most major newsstands and bookstores and the issue is should be appearing everywhere (in North America anyway) in the coming week or so.  I noticed that none of the major bookstores had the issue yet in my area, but I found it at a Electronics Boutique store of all places.

As a funny coincedence, David Hemblen, who played Lord Dread in the TV Series Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (along with Jessica of course) is also featured in the issue.

Jessica in Starlog Magazine [5:00 PM EST]
Just when you thought Jessica couldn't possibly be in another magazine, she shows up in the September issue of Starlog (#254)!  I haven't seen the issue yet (we still have issue #253 on the stands in my area) but from what I understand it is a 3 page article with photos. Starlog is available at most major newsstands and bookstores such as Waldenbooks, B. Dalton, Barnes & Noble, Border's etc... (thanks to Stephanie for the info).

Speaking of magazines, the August issue of LIVE! magazine should be on the stands by now, and I believe it has a small article about Jessica.

More TV Appearances Unearthed [6:45 PM EST]
Further demonstrating that my Filmography page is nowhere near complete, another 2 TV shows that Jessica has appeared in pop up. Last week I found out about a TV series called The Campbell's  (from a TV Guide article I just added to the site) but I don't know what episode it was or anything about it. For those of you that are in Canada, the channel History Television is currently airing episodes of The Campbell's  something like 3 times a day.  Check History Television's site for schedule information. Also, a short while ago today while I was perusing Jessica's entry in the Internet Movie Database, I spot a new entry that someone added for a guest appearance on a TV show called The Littlest Hobo that Jessica did back in 1985.  Naturally, since Hobo was a Canadian TV series I never heard of that one either. Thankfully, a guy by the name of Kevin McCorry has a very complete web site about The Littlest Hobo (tell me your not surprised) including a detailed episode guide that contains summaries of all the episodes.  A summary of Jessica's episode (titled "Torque") is located on this page here. Just my luck, Kevin tells me that Jessica's episode aired exactly a week ago today up in Canada, and so I missed it (sigh).

Armageddon Premiere at eDRIVE [3:40 PM EST]
eDRIVE has a section on their web site about the Armageddon Premiere in Florida this past June 29th.  They do have a photo gallery, but of course they don't have any photos featuring just Jessica, which is frustrating since she looked so stunning at the premiere (maybe Armageddon director Michael Bay did the editing on the web site as well). However, she does appear in a few photos with the rest of the cast, or in the background of a few shots. The main page is here, but for those just interested in the Jessica material, here are the direct links to it.

New Pacificon 98 [4:45 PM EST]
I just got back from New Pacificon 98 (an Earth 2 convention in Cincinnati, OH this past weekend).  I had a great time thanks to the wonderful guests and fans that were there. I got to meet and spend a decent amount of time with Bill Traetta and Jana Marie Bonar who worked on Earth 2's costumes and creature effects (and are also great friends with Jessica.)

I also got to meet E2 actor Kirk Trutner, who made a little joke at my expense during his speaking session in front of all the fans. So now that I have Kirk's photo I think I might experiment some with digital image manipulation and post the results here (just kidding).  But seriously, Kirk was a lot of fun and spent the majority of his time with the fans during the weekend and had some great stories to tell. I was/am amazed with all his energy and passion for what he does, he is definately a big hit with the fans.  And I'm not just saying that because he is also good friends with Jessica and could easily say bad things about me and ruin her opinion of me  etc... Did I mention what a truely great actor and all around human being Kirk Trutner is? (grin)

I also got to see Rockmond Dunbar again (he was also in Vegas last month for the little E2 mini-con we had out) and he was cool as always and as easily accessable to the fans as well (he also made a little Jessica joke at my expense).

I must say I had a great time in NP98 and I am sure all the other fans and guests did as well.

Armageddon Holds On Still [5:30 PM EST]
It appears that Armageddon has held on quite impressively once again at the box office during its 3rd week.  Although it dropped to 3rd place from 2nd last week, the movie did around 16 million this past weekend, bringing its total to date to around 128.5 million dollars.

Online Chat Transcript [12:40 AM EST]
As many of you know, the master of Online Chat, Jessica Steen,  did another chat that this past Wednesday (7-15-98) and the transcript is now available at the TVgen.com site. Here is the transcript of the chat. (and hey! they got my name right on the transcript (see page 3) (thanks to Char for the heads-up on the transcript)

Online Chat Reminder [2:00 AM EST]
Jessica of course! Here we go again...  This is a reminder that Jessica's chat on TV Gen.com (that was rescheduled from last Wednesday) is tonight , Wednesday (7-15-98) at 9:00PM (GMT -05:00 Eastern Standard Time).  You can go directly to YAHOO's Chat site for it, or go to TV Gen.com.  You need an account, so if you don't have one yet, get there a little early.

Jessica in Variety [2:00 AM EST]
Jessica in VarietyAs I mentioned last week, Jessica was in the July 2nd issue of the Daily Variety for the LA Armageddon screening that was on July 1st.  For those of you who didn't see it, here is the picture that appeared in that issue.

Jessica in The National Enquirer [11:40 AM EST]
Jessica in The National Enquirer? Is she featured in an article that claims that she is child of aliens from another planet? No, but that would explain a lot wouldn't it?  :-)  Actually, Jessica appears in the current issue (July 21, 1998) of The Enquirer on the back inside page.  This is another photo of her from the LA Armageddon screening (same as the Variety photo above). I can't say it is the most flattering photo of Jessica, (that's what she gets for making goofy faces at the photographers) but you do get to see what she was wearing better (instead of just the top, like in all the other photos I have seen so far.)  For those of you who wouldn't be caught dead with a copy of this rag, here is a scan of the photo.  (thanks to Nancy for the scoop!)

Jessica's Chat Rescheduled [1:00 AM EST]
Jessica's chat that was originally scheduled for 7-8-98, has now been rescheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday July 15th at 9:00PM est. The chat takes place at YAHOO's Chat site. Sorry for the late notice, but I just found out a short while ago.

Armageddon Holds On [5:15 AM EST]
It appears that Armageddon has held on quite impressively at the box office during its 2nd week.  It did 23.5 million this past weekend bringing its total to date after 12 days, to around 100 million dollars. It only had a 35% drop off at the box office in its 2nd week which is very good. Many critics predicted that Armageddon  would die a quick death at the box office, but based on the figures so far, it is now expected to be the hit of the summer.

Here is the Daily Variety Box Office Chart for July 10-12.

Article About Jessica's New Movie
Although there isn't a single mention of Jessica, The Edmonton Journal has an article about the filming of Jessica's latest movie, Question of Privilege at a high school up there. Here is the article, and here is another page about a few of the young actors in the film.  The film is due out sometime in the Summer of 1999 and is a legal thriller centered around four teenage boys accused of murdering a young girl.  Jessica, who has the lead in the movie, plays an attorney by the name of Andrea Roberts, and is sort of the  "Nancy Drew" of the story.

Online Chat CANCELLED
For whatever reason, it appears that Jessica was unable to make it to the chat tonight on TVgen.com.  After waiting in the room for about 20 minutes they announced that it had been cancelled. TVgen said that they would try to reschedule it at a later date.  I will post reschedule information when I get it.

Cinema Magazine Back Issues
July 98 Cinema  For anyone interested in buying a copy of the July issue of Cinema, in which Jessica has a nice 3 page article with photos. You can order a copy by calling GLP International at 1-800-457-4443.  The issue is $6 plus $3 shipping.  Make sure you specify the July 1998 issue with the Armageddon cover story. I am not sure how many copies they have of this left, so I would call ASAP if you want one.  Keep in mind that the magazine is in German, but I do have the translation on the Articles page. I also have some of the photos in the Still Photos section of the Photo Gallery. Here is the original article from their website.

Record Number of Visitors Yesterday
A record number of visitors have been coming to this site thanks to Jessica's participation in the movie Armageddon.  Yesterday we had 602 people come in through the main page, and we had 791 come to the Armageddon section of the site.  It looks like today we may even beat that record! Thanks to everyone for visiting!

New Dax on Star Trek: DS9 Announced
Back on July 3rd I posted something about a wild rumour going around on some Star Trek message boards about our own Jessica Steen being the next "Dax" character (to replace Terry Farrell) on ST:Deep Space 9.  Well, to no suprise to me, it isn't true and instead of it being Toronto, Canada native Jessica Steen it is Toronto, Canada native Nicole deBoer.  Nicole was previously on the Sci-Fi Channel series Mission Genesis.  This is good news to me since if Jessica did get the part, then this site would get overloaded with traffic from all those rabid Trekkies, and my Web Server Provider would kick my butt off of here!

Online Chat Reminder
This is a reminder that Jessica's chat on TV Gen.com (TV Guide's Online Site) is on Wednesday night (7-8-98) at 8:00PM (GMT -05:00 Eastern Standard Time).  The site uses JAVA based chat, so be sure and make sure you have a JAVA compatable browser. Also, you need to register before you can get access to the site.  I would recommend that you go there at least 30 minutes ahead of time and set up an account if you haven't already, and play around with the chat room to get used to it.

JS in Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety
This news is a bit late and probably not very useful at this point, but I just found out today that Jessica appeared in last Wednesday's issue of The Hollywood Reporter (7-1-98), and also in last Thursdays Daily Variety (7-2-98).  I would imagine it was for the Armageddon Premiere.   I would love to get copies of these issues, does anyone know anybody with back issues of these? Or maybe get scans of the photos that were in them? Please email me if you can help me out.

Due South on TNT
As I mentioned here back on April 23, 1998, TNT bought the rights to air Due South here in the United States.  They have announced that the series will start airing on Monday, September 8th at 4 pm ET/PT. It will be featured in the 4 pm ET/PT time slot every Monday through Friday and it can also be seen every Saturday morning at 11 am ET/PT.  What's this have to do with Jessica you ask? Well, as I mentioned back on March 6th, Jessica filmed an episode of Due South titled "Hunting Season". And as I also mentioned, her episode was 1 of 4 that were NOT going to air in the U.S. during its first run here (it will premiere in Canada during their Fall season). Well since TNT has bought the rights to air the episodes, they will get all of them including Jessica's episode! The irony here is that her episode may air in the U.S. on TNT before it even premiere's in Canada! If my calculations are correct, then Jessica's episode should air around early to mid December. Thank you kindly TNT!  Check out TNT's Due South Page, as well as The Official Due South Page for more information on this series.

 Site of the Week
Check it out, the JSP has been chosen as the "Site of the Week" by BabeMania!

Armageddon Box Office
Although the final results won't be out until tomorrow, it appears that Armageddon came in first place this weekend with about a 35 million take, making its total since its opening on Wednesday to be around 53 million. Ticket sales were down during the holiday this year probably because July 4th fell on a Saturday, which is usually a big movie day. Instead, I am sure most people were out celebrating the holiday.

Jessica Finishes "Question of Privilege"
Just before the June 29th Armageddon Premiere, Jessica completed work on her latest movie "Question of Privilege." And yes this time it is truely "her movie" since she has the lead. :-)  (see the June 25th entry for some details).  Although I haven't heard anything about a release date, I would have to assume that it won't be out until sometime in 1999.  On top of that, this movie I believe is an independant feature, so I am not sure that it will be a film that will get a wide release. I guess it depends on how it turns out.  Stay tuned for details.

Power Outage
My Internet Service Provider took a nasty power hit today around 3:00PM until about 6:15PM, so needless to say, if you were trying to get to the page during those times it was down.  Everything seems to be back to normal now.

Rumor Control
I just got an email from someone saying that there is a wild rumor circulating around the Star Trek message boards about Jessica being chosen to play the new Dax character on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.  I haven't been watching any of the Star Trek's very much lately, but I do know that actress Terry Farrell left the show at the end of the season and they need a replacement.  In any case, if it is true, I haven't heard anything about it.  Of course my number 1 source is away from the computer for a while and is unavailable to confirm or deny the rumour.  I kind of doubt it is true, but Jessica would look good in Trill makeup though wouldn't she? Smile

Online Chat Results
The Online Chat on AOL's Entertainment Asylum was pretty interesting.  What made it different from Jessica's chat on The Sci-Fi Channels site was this had live video of Jessica. She sat on a couch with the interviewer and they told Jessica the questions that were submitted in the online chat area.  So instead of just seeing her text response on the screen, you could see live video and audio which was thrilling especially when they read my question to her.  I had asked if there were any scenes of hers cut from the film, and her answer in so many words was basically "yes".  It sounded as though quite a bit of stuff was left on the cutting room floor.  I will try and find out any memorable scenes she remembers and post them on here.

If you missed Jessica's chat on The Entertainment Asylum, you can view the 30 minute Real Video version of it here. You will need to have the RealPlayer plugin (free version) for your web browser in order to view it. You can get the free plugin here. Also, many other archived interviews are available at their site, in the On Demand section.

Jessica at the LA Premiere
E! had a segment on their E! Daily News show yesterday from the LA Armageddon premiere.  They had maybe 5 second long comment from Jessica. I will try and upload a few screen captures from the appearance as soon as I can.

Online Chat Reminder
This is a reminder that Jessica's chat on The Entertainment Asylum is tonight at 9:30PM (GMT -05:00 Eastern Standard Time).  The site uses the iCHAT chat plugin and Real Video, so make sure you have those installed and working if you already do not.

Armageddon Comments
I got to see Armageddon yesterday evening at the local AMC 24 theater here in Columbus, Ohio.  Fortunately, I and most of the people I went with, bought tickets ahead of time. When I arrived at the theater I found out that all the showings on all 4 of the screens (3 of them being their largest) were completely sold out until the showings after 11:00PM.

Overall, my impression of Armageddon is mixed one. I thought it was very entertaining at times, but I had a lot of problems with the rest of it. I really enjoyed the humor in the first half of the film and that was almost worth the price of admission alone. The effects were fantastic, even at a time were big effects in films are getting to be pretty common-place. There wasn't much in the way of plot or character development in the film, but since this is pretty much a roller coaster ride, I guess it doesn't matter.  What I really didn't like about the film (and I thought was extremely annoying and detracted from it) was the way it was edited and the non-stop camera movement. At times it was kind of difficult to tell what was going on.  Another thing that annoyed me were the shots showing different countries and people from all over the world looked like shots from an American Express commercial.  The director, Michael Bay got his start in commercials and music videos which is obvious, he took fast paced editing to extremes in this movie.  I know Bay is capable of making a good movie since I thought his previous effort, "The Rock" was excellent.  Even with its faults it is still worth seeing though.

So what about Jessica??

Well, Jessica was great in the movie as I expected she would be. Unfortunately, she had maybe a total of 2 or 3 minutes of screen time during the entire 150 minute film!  I think she had 1 "major scene" and maybe another small one in the end, but the rest of her appearances were basically a few quick shots of her here and there yelling out technical jargon or something. There was certainly no time for her character to develop in the film. But I think she did the best she could do given the part that it was.  It was rumored that a early cut of the film ran for over 3 hours, so I would be curious to know if she had any more major scenes that were cut.  If so, hopefully they will appear in a supplement section of the DVD or Laserdisc.

Jessica Gets Good Exposure
Although Jessica had only a tiny part in the movie, it sure has given her a lot more exposure than she has ever gotten before.  I think she has appeared in at least 8 magazines lately (that I know of), was featured on E! News Weekend and on E!'s coverage of the Armageddon Premiere. By next week, she will have done 3 online chats this year as well.

This web site has gotten an amazing amount of additional traffic in the past few months. Over the past few days, the Armageddon section of this site has averaged about 650 visitors a day and the main page has seen a threefold increase as well.  The page counter software I use forecasts that at least 600 people will hit the main page today and at least 700 will hit the Armageddon section.  Not bad considering that I usually average about 150-200 hits a day on either page.  Quite a few of those hits are coming from the link on YAHOO's Armageddon section that has my listed at the very top above even the Official site!  Ha!

July 1, 1998 (last updated at 1:30PM EST)   HAPPY CANADA DAY, Eh?!!!!

AICN Armageddon Review (with Jessica mention)
Harry Knowles of Aint-It Cool-News just posted his review of Armageddon, he even has a little mention of Jessica who spoke with him at the end of the movie! Harry loved the film.

2 Upcoming Jessica Online Chat's!
Some of you already know about Jessica's online chat tomorrow at 9:30PM on The Entertainment Asylum.  But she also has another chat on July 8th on TVgen (TV GUIDES's Online Site) at 8PM EST. Wow, this makes the 3rd Online Chat with Jessica this year.  She is starting to become a real online pro! Oh wait, that requires actual physical contact with a computer... never mind. :-)   (thanks to Joe Pintar for the info)

Armageddon Has Arrived!
Well, the day has finally arrived that we have been waiting for since we first heard Jessica was going to be in Armageddon way back in September!   After work yesterday I stopped by the local AMC Theater here in Columbus, and bought my ticket for tonight! Yippee!

Armageddon Premiere
Well, it was nice to see that Jessica got some air time on E!'s Armageddon Premiere this past Monday.  She sure looked nice in that dress.  I am suprised Mellisa Rivers didn't ask her, "Who are you wearing?" like she normally does at these kind of events.  I have some screen captures of Jessica from the premiere that I grabbed right off the live broadcast.  They aren't the greatest shots of her in the world, but I hope to get some better ones when they re-air the premiere later this week.

Flare Article
Since most people won't be able to see Jessica's small article (with photo) in this months FLARE Magazine (A Canadian Fashion Magazine), here it is.
