Synopsis:

JOHN AND THE MISSUS (1987) (Directed by Gordon Pinsent; with Jessica Steen, Timothy Webber, Randy Follett, Roland Hewgill)

The story of one man's passionate attempt to fight for the land he loves and the way of life he believes in. Set against the rugged beauty of Newfoundland's coastal landscape, a romantic drama unfolds during the early 1960s when the fate of an isolated mining community could be determined by the Government's resettlement program. When a cave-in at the Cup Cove mine gives the government representative the opportunity to close the mine permanently, John Nunn fights to save the mine and the town he loves. It is a struggle that tests not only the deep love John and the Missus have for each other and their family, but John's own sense of self.
