Jessica's
Answer

From:
Brien Lewis
I
remember seeing a high school production that Jessica co-directed
called
"Hello Out There" that was very good. Has
she ever thought of (or had the
opportunity to) do any directing since then?
Would she like to do some in
the future?
Thanks!

Brien,
Well,
my Dad was a director and as a result of his input, I've been
interested in seeing what kind of director I would make.
I would definitely like to try and direct. I wouldn't
feel comfortable doing camera direction necessarily... yet.
I would like to direct scenes or a play or something of that
nature. I'm not in a position to be one, but I would like to
work hand in hand with a director that is really comfortable
with the camera and lighting and angles and that kind of thing
and I could have more of the more emotional and text directing.
Or start with scenes or readings or plays.
I
appreciate you remembering "Hello Out There"!

Hubert,
1.
My goals are to work towards being a more environmentally friendly
human. To contribute to thought provoking and playful
adventures for people and to get involved in a environmental
cause. Work wise, I would like to be challenged, creative
in whatever form that comes in. Whether it's TV, film,
writing or creating adventures for people.
2.
I don't believe in "God" in the traditional sense of the word.
I think "God" is something that exists in all of us and that
we have a responsibility towards each other and to the planet
and to other living things and ourselves and it is a huge responsibility.
"God" is energy and it is everyone and is in all of us.
3.
I believe that animals have souls, yes I do. Because they
too are energy and they too are individuals and they too are
different.
4.
Aging is harder. (laughs)
5.
I have been to Switzerland. I have spent days in Zürich
and Zermatt.

Hi
Jessica,
My
name is Sandra, and I've been a fan of yours since Earth 2.
I have two
questions to ask. First of all, I wish we
could have seen more of your
character in Armageddon (I've dreamed of being
a space shuttle pilot for NASA
for a very long time now) and I was wondering
what you thought of the role
and if you received the opportunity to tour any
of the NASA space centers?
My
second question is, have you ever kept anything special from
previous
roles that you treasured? Thanks for answering,
and keep up the good work,
Jessica!
Sandra
|
Sandra,
Thanks
for your support for "Earth 2". I would liked to have
seen more of my character too. But since [director] Michael
Bay shot enough film to go around the world twice he had to
make some cuts and some choices and I can see I was the "token
chick".
A
Space Shuttle pilot is a good dream to have. You can certainly
get involved in some level. They are a great bunch of
people and it is a very exciting field.
I
toured the Space Center in both Houston and in Florida.
There are overwhelming toys there. The magnitude of the
machinery is beyond your wildest dreams. If you get a
chance go on the tour, it will blow your mind.
[Second
Question]
What
I treasure most is friendships, keeping in touch with people.
"Gag Reels" I always find a hoot... The odd piece of clothing...
On occasion I will keep a prop, if I can. Now days people
are much more strict about keeping their props because they
know that they go out into the marketplace and get a lot of
money. From Captain Power I saved my communicator and
"Power On" button, you know my power on battery pack and my
chest thing. Generally I don't... Sci-Fi is where you
find the more interesting things. I saved a few sort of
trinkets from "Homefront" and clothing that we were allowed
to have. But other than that, mostly friendships... and
of course the Christmas gifts we put together are fun.

Hi
Jessica,
I'm an Italian girl (17 years old) and I live near Milan. I know
Antonio Sabato jr is Italian : tell him (if you can and want)
something about me (an Italian fan) !!!!!!!!!! I want to
tell you my congratulations for your role as Julia ... you are
fantastic !! I hope there will be a 2nd series ... but for
now I'm loving the 1st. I know I don't ask you boring questions
and all the other things I read on the site ... but if you write
me just a word, I will be very very very very very very very very
very happy !!!!!!! I'd like to know something (no, everything)
about Alonzo and Julia's relationship ! Thank you very very much
!!
Titti --- an Italian fan

Thank
you Titti for watching "Earth 2" and I really appreciate your
support. Antonio is a very sweet guy to work with. He has
a beautiful son named Jack that he loves very much. We didn't
spend a lot of time socializing together. He is a very private
guy from what I gather and certainly isn't hard on the eyes.
Glad
you like the show, keep in touch!

Ummm....
I don't know Al, I am sorry [when "Question of Privilege" will

Yes,
Debrah Farentino is the only cast member that I've kept in touch

there, but I don't keep in touch with them. Working with
Antonio was nice, it was good [see answer above --GC].

Bonjour

My
name is Karyne Duval, and I come from Canada.
I
would like to know if you can speak other languages than English,
and if yes, which ones?
And
one last thing I would want to know: Do you sometimes watch
series like: X-Files, ER, Ally McBeal....or even Earth 2 on
television?
Thank
you and continue your great acting career! I hope that you will
have a lot of futurist projects...
Yours

I
don't watch as much TV as someone who is in the business should.
To keep abreast of all the things being produced and all the
actors doing such hard work... I have tuned into all of
those shows at one time or another and you have listed some
of the better ones.
Thank
you for the compliment on "Earth 2" !

Hi
Jessica, I loved the TV show Homefront. I can't believe that
there is
still a fan club for the show even after 8 years.
If a reunion was
possible, would you be part of it??
Thanks,
Mark Coleman
|
Mark,
I
would absolutely love to be a part of a reunion. We had
a reunion at Yoga the other night, there were 4 of us from the
show, all hanging out together. But I would love to work
with everyone again, just to be back on the sets just for a
minute and wear all those fine threads!
Thank
you for being such a die hard fan Mark!

I
was wondering. From what I've heard in some articles, Mike

movies are your #1 choice,
but if you had the chance would you go for a part
in one, or more of them?

Hi
there Jessica. I noticed in your bio on this page that
you enjoy kayaking. What's the best river you have ever
been down? Have you ever been kayaking in the southeastern
US? Do you get to go as often as you'd like? Just
curious.
Andy
|
The
best river I have been town is a river in Northern Ontario that
I did during "Outward Bound". That was white water, in open
water I did sea kayaking in Clayoquot Sound in BC which was awesome.
I have not been kayaking in South Eastern US. Recently I
went on a kayaking trip in Belize. It was a great trip and
I love kayaking. |
From:
Nancy
Dear
Jessica,
Hi!
My name is Nancy and I discovered and became a big fan of your
after seeing you in "Armageddon". I think you are quite talented
and hopefully you'll become an even bigger star than you are
now. I do have a few "Armageddon" questions to ask. First, where
was your favorite location to shoot at and why? What was it
like to work with Anthony Guidera? I'm also a fan of him because
of this movie. Also, if you didn't wear that 70-pound
space suit that most of the cast had to wear, how did you get
so many bumps and bruises on the set (I read that in a magazine,
but I forgot which one)?
Well,
I hope you get this message, I'll talk to you soon!
Love,
Nancy
|
Thanks
for watching Armageddon Nancy! My favorite location was
the NASA airstrip in Florida where the shuttle lands. They
pulled out all the firepower, all these massive helicopters circling
overhead, and the Blue Angels flying overhead.
Working
with Anthony was great because we both had the same positions,
we were both co-pilots and he and I hung out a fair bit.
He is very funny and a very disciplined guy. He helped
me out a lot because I got hired so late in the game and he
already had done research and he helped me get up to speed.
Sweet guy, not to mention handsome.
The
reason I got covered in bumps and bruises was in the shuttle
in the cockpit, leaping in and out of my seat and running up
and down the stairwell... down to the control and leaping around
inside the shuttle is where I got all bruised up. And
of course a lot of got cut so you don't get to see my stunt
work.
|
From:
Elizabeth Stapleton
I
got to be a fan of yours when I saw Armageddon. You and
Liv
Tyler were basically the only women who had decent
parts. (Might I add
you were very convincing!)
My question is, was there
ever any intention of developing the
character of Jennifer Watts more than what actually
made it into the
movie? There was one time when Sharp mentioned
that he had two kids,
but we got no background on Watts.
Personally I would love
to see a spin-off in which Watts and Grace
Stamper Frost save the world! :)
Elizabeth
|
Elizabeth,
(quietly)
Well... I said that she kept a very low profile because she
was actually a Russian spy infiltrating the NASA space program
but unfortunately that story line was cut. I have a rich
imagination. (laughs). But no, there wasn't a lot of detail
on her. But she was based on the first female shuttle
pilot [Susan Smith] that I actually met on the tarmac at NASA
in Florida.
[In
regards to the Watts and Grace "spin-off"]
I
would imagine that they would be in fetching super hero outfits
and it would have to be some environmental team that saved the
world from potential man made disasters! yeah yeah! I
think she's on to something there (laughs!)

Dear
Jessica,
I'm
a technical theater student who just graduated from High School
and I
worked on all of my school's
plays and musicals in my four years. I just
wanted to say that I loved
your performance in the movie "Sing" I watch it
over and over again I love
it so much. When I watched it for the first time
in my sophomore year in
high school seeing your character having to put a
whole show together reminded
me of what I was involved in and your character inspired me
to get more involved in what I was doing in the theater. In
my senior year of high school I took on the role of the Assistant
Stage Manager for both my school's play and musical. I just
wanted to say thank you again for inspiring me. I was wondering
what it was like to work with Peter Dobson and Lorraine Bracco?
I also wanted to say that I think that you're a very beautiful
and very talented actress, I look up to as a role model.
Thank
you,
Kate Rizzetto
|
Hi
Kate,
I
think that is the best compliment an actor can receive is to
be told that something they have been involved in that inspired
them to get more involved and expand their interest in something.
I am really pleased. I wish they had "Sings" at my high
school. You said you wanted to thank me for inspiring
you, I want to thank you for inspiring me. Because it is the
highest compliment.
Working
with Peter Dobson was a riot he reminded me so much of an old
boyfriend he is such a character and he is mad for "The King"
so I bought him this plaster Elvis bust at the end of the shoot.
He hates to fly so he carried this big huge nasty plaster Elvis
on a train all the way home.
Thank
you for the role model compliment.

how the buildings look, cars, clothing etc, it must have been
a huge work? and thanks for your part in homefront, you were
very good i think!

All
the set dec [set decoration] was done painstakingly and thoroughly
and they did a fabulous job. Down to the smallest detail
these people were dead on. Otherwise we would get mail about it.
[Jessica doing an impression] "That car was not in production
in the year of this!" Anyway, people were really sticky about
this. They won Emmy's for their work and I want to mention their
names. Dean Mitzner was the production designer, I think
the art department won awards, I know Lyn Paolo won for costume
design. There were a number of Emmy awards won for the detail
and hard work. |

I
have been to England 3 or 4 times. 2 on Choir exchanges
when I was in High School. I have been to Frogmore.
I had a great time in England. I like a good Shandy! (laughs)
I was in London I think it was in 1994 with my family and had
a good time. I have some awesome footage and pictures of
England and us visiting castles and graveyards. [In the choir]
we sang at Stratford-upon-Avon and toured all around England and
sang some in remarkable churches.
Thank
you very much for your inquiry!
George:
Do you sing very well?
Jessica:
I think I sing well hiding in a group. I sing in my car but
I wouldn't subject anyone else to it. But I think I do all right
if I can sort of hide. (giggle)

Jessica,
May
I ask who designed / made your ring with the tooth? I
work in the
dental field & recently
saw a photo in which you were wearing it. It caught my
attention. I have seen many earrings & necklaces
made from teeth that are very nicely done. The rings I've
seen have been at dental conventions, usually worn by sales
reps. They are, shall we say, less than attractive.
Yours is quite the opposite. Is it a baby tooth, or adult?
I assume all the teeth are yours. The earrings look to
be wisdom teeth. My compliments
to your jewelry designer
who has restored my faith. Now if I could just
get a better look at that
ring. :-)
Thanks
for your patience.
Donna
|
My
4 wisdom teeth... 2 of which are earrings and 2 of which are pendants
on a necklace where done by a guy in Toronto who owns a shop called
Metamorphosis on Bellair, he is an awesome jeweler. His
name is Jim, and he does incredible work.
The
ring, cause we were starting the family jewels, was designed
and made by someone in Vancouver at the request of my brother.
I'm carting his wisdom around because he said that "chicks just
dig it", (laughs) so I stole it from him. I don't
know the name of the jeweler in Vancouver. But basically
it is a wide silver band and the tooth was cut off and set in
some sort of epoxy resin and you can see the underside of the
tooth from inside the ring. But it is certainly better
than bears claw or sharks teeth... so encourage people to stick
their own body bits! (laughs) Some people are grossed
out by it and some people think it is really neat, and they
are "pearls of wisdom!"

Dear
Jessica,
Say
you're working steady on a series or whatever and you get a
day
off. How would that
day off go? What would you do from beginning to
end? Sunny
day? Rainy Day?
Thanks
for your time,
Judy
|
A
normal day is trying to get on top of paperwork and phone calls
and bills and trying to get my life in order because it always
seems to be falling into an immense state of entropy. After that
is has to include either Yoga or a hike, just to burn off a little
excess hyperactivity. My ideal day would include a meal
with my friends. Being in my home and being in a hike in
the mountains and checking out some nightlife, some performance
art somewhere. On a rainy day I am all for staying home
and having some comfort food and watching a movie. And having
a party, having people over. I love entertaining people
at my house. |

Hi
Jessica!
I
will try my best to keep this as short as possible......
So - to keep you busy and to satisfy my boundless
curiosity, here are four
totally essential ;-) questions:
1.)
Where is the place you call "home", Toronto, L.A. or neither
and why?!
2.)
As a frequent traveler, do you speak any foreign languages?!
3.)
How did you get the idea for your cats' names, do they have
any special
background?!
4.)
What got you into playing African drums (by the way: a Djembe
drum?)?!
I
regret not having been able to attend and see you at the Earth2-Con.
Gruß & Kuß,
Regina
Hilden, Germany
|
Regina,
1.
Home is 2 things. Toronto is the home I grew out from
and L.A. is the home I grew in to and both are equally important
to who I am today.
2.
[see the answer to Karyne Duval's question (#6 from the top)
above. --GC]
3.
My cats names.... I don't know where Zak came from I have no
idea, I think my ex-boyfriend came up with that. That
had to do with the cat that came before... my other cat... because
they were both Tabbies, there was Zack and Same because
they looked the Zak Same. But she (Same) has passed away and
so she then has been followed by a cat named Sazi, which is
short for Anasazi (which is a tribe of people that existed in
New Mexico) and we got her when were living in Sante Fe.
But rarely gets called her Sazi, mostly gets Cheeky or Saucy
or Sassy!
4.
I was literally taken by a friend to a drumming circle on a
full moon and it was so much fun... and I got hooked! They had
extra drums there and they had a potluck dinner...so we ate
dinner .... and there were a whole bunch of musicians and dancers,
it was so much fun that... I have been going to them since
and bought myself a drum. And made a bunch of friends
in that whole circle.
What
I love about it is that you get really focused on maintaining
a rhythm and and it is a great mediation and it also physically
exhausting and gets some aggression out. If your in a
drumming circle and everybody has got a rhythm it is pretty
magic, to be in sync with a community of drummers...to make
music...and bang away... and gets the blood going and gets you
back to the beat of your body!
George:
Did you play your drum at Burning Man?
Jessica:
We took them but we didn't end up playing any drums because
we had an installation so it was sort of time consuming and
that is what we did more so we focused on that.

From:
Echo
Hi
Jessica,
In
Earth 2, which episode or scene was your least favourite to
shoot, and why?
Echo
|
Echo,
I
think it had to do with that GeoLock, it was 4:30 in the morning
up on the mountain in the middle of winter... freezing to death!
I had to say a whole bunch of stuff and we were trying to get
this prop to work and it had frozen solid so the lights weren't
coming on... and our fingers wouldn't move and out mouths wouldn't
move and it was so late and we were going all week and it was
just exhausting! Plus there was this giddy element to
it as well and we were like "what the hell!?! ahhh!!"
(laughs) We couldn't think anymore.

From:
Maggie
Hi
Jessica!
I have two questions - how do you feel about the increased sexual
content (ie. nudity) on television - does it make
it harder to find
parts you want to do?
Second,
in an interview you mentioned you have some projects you wanted
to get off the ground - without giving anything
away can you give us
some idea of what you are interested in doing?
Your
pal,
Maggie
|
I
have not run into this problem too much yet. It would certainly
give pause for thought about how important I thought it was to
the part and how important I the part was to me before I got myself
in that situation, and who was shooting and why they were shooting...and
that kinda thing.
[Second
question]
I'm
interested ultimately creating a place or places for adults
to play, thats generally speaking. One of them would be
in the city and one of them would be out of the city, and that
is an idea I am working on. I also have a feature film script
idea, and I have childrens books ideas...

Hey
Jessica! I wanted to tell you that "Sing" is one of my
favorite movies, and I think you did a wonderful job in it.
Peter Dobson, who played Dominick, is one of my favorite actors.
I was wondering what it was like to work with him? And
do you have any favorite memories from making the movie?
Your fan,
Jennifer
|
As
I said earlier Peter was fun to work with. Sweet guy. [See question
about Peter above. --GC]. The scene where everybody
was involved and everyone in costume..those were my favorites...
during the performance I think. Where everyone has a part...
I'd have to say working with Cuba Gooding Jr. was fun! He is a
riot! He is very funny... There is that one point where
he gets bonked in the head in the hall. We shot that stuff
in LA on a few additional shooting days. But, yeah...
I think those are my fondest memories because everyone was there,
there were kids I went to high school with... the scenes were
everybody was there are my favorite. All together!

Hi
Jessica,
I recently saw a episode of Earth2 where you were
in a fight scene with the character Devon. Do you like to do
those kind of kick butt scenes which looked like alot of fun
and I am sure alot of work or the more dramatic roles that are
not so physical?
Thanks
Cindy
|
Cindy,
the more physical the better! I love to get physical! (laughs)
That scene was hilarious. To get the view for the shot she and
I were perched on the top of this mountain... and they put a bunch
of dirt on top of it and rocks and stuff to make it look... she
had to be pushed off the edge into this netting, the two of us
were covered in bruises but we were laughing out butts off...
It's fun to fight with a gal, I love wrestling ...I've always
loved play fighting and wrestling stuff like that. Pretending
to beat each other up was just...fun. We had a riot a that
day. That kinda thing is fun... sure. |
From:
"Brenda Kennedy"
Hi
Jessica,
I
just wanted to say you did an incredible job on the Touched
By An Angel episode entitled "Full Moon". It was such
an emotional show, was it emotionally draining for you?
Alex McArthur and Chris Noth are awesome.
What were they like to work
with?
|
Brenda,
It
was emotionally draining to do because she lived in this state
of fear and it was exhausting to do for 7 or 8 days. But
I am glad that it touched on a subjected that is very prevalent
in society and it is incredibly upsetting and I have gotten
some fan mail that has been supportive and I appreciate that
you found it moving. Both of those guys were terrific
to work with. I hope that I did that kind of event or
happening in someones life justice.
George:
Did you get a lot of fan mail about that episode?
Jessica:
A bit, from people who said they were moved by it or had been
through something similiar and had trouble moving through it
and had trouble with people in their lives around them helping
them move through it.

From:
John Cricket
Hi
Jessica,
I
hope this is a not too much personal question, but I was wondering
what are your feelings regarding kissing in your
acting. Is this a
thing that is hard for you to do or do you feel
that it is just a part
of acting, and easily achived?
Thanks,
John
Cricket
|
It
totally depends on the relationship you have with the person you
are kissing. The character's on screen in the story... their
relationship affects how you feel about the kissing... and the
relationship you have with actors off camera will either help
or hinder how you feel about that kind of intimacy. So it
is different in each case I would say. It can be really
fun or it can be rather uncomfortable. |
